Maundy Thursday Service
On Palm Sunday, Jesus entered the gates of Jerusalem to shouts of joy, branches waving. The mood in the city had changed dramatically by Thursday, as the Lord gathered his disciples in the Upper Room to keep the Passover. There he prayed for them and for all who would come to believe through their witness. He knelt and washed their feet like a common servant, an example to all. And as they came to terms with what was happening, especially their own failings, Jesus took bread and wine, instituting the Lord’s Supper for the forgiveness of sins, a gift for all generations.
This is a night of remembrance, of grace received, and prayer.
